8X10_Thanksgiving

Happy Turkey Day!!  Well not for this Turkey.  This is the image that Coletta and I sent out as a holiday Thanksgiving Card to family and friends.  This was a fun Photoshop practice composite for me! Everything is from a separate photograph.  If you can’t figure the story out, we are chasing the frowny faced Turkey with Stove-Top stuffing dragging a stove through the woods….ummm yeah.

I stumbled upon an article mentioning onOne Software’s latest piece of software, DSLR Remote.  You can use your iPhone or iPod Touch to remotely adjust and fire your Nikon or Canon DSLRs!!  I have been complaining that there was a need for an app that would display the the image for review with the file number on an iPhone after taking the exposure and this does that plus!  This app has incredible potential, and at a $19.99 price point it is the cheapest remote capture software/cable release I have seen anywhere!

There is also a Lite version, at $1.99  that allows you to fire your camera, but does not allow you to adjust any of the camera settings, which is great if you are just looking for a cable release. Both apps provide “image review” and displays the image taken by your camera on your iPhone or iPod, how cool! And if your camera is “Live View” enabled you can actually “see through your viewfinder” via the Pro Edtion of the App before you fire the camera! Wow.

You just need your Nikon or Canon DSLR, your iPhone or iPod Touch, DSLR Camera Server (shown below/FREE) for your computer, Wifi Enabled Comptuer, and either the Pro or Lite Edition App!!

You can get all the details at onOne Software’s website.  This is probably one of the best Apps I have seen for the iPhone yet, its definitely on the top of my favorites list!

Earlier today at Pittsburgh PodCamp 4 Coletta and I finally had the opportunity to meet Justine Ezarik from iJustine.com.  If you know us you know we are pretty huge fans.  We just wanted to thank her for chatting with us today and let her know that we wish her all the best in whats to come for her.  Be sure to watch for her on Law and Order SVU on November 11 @9PM on NBC!!!

As promised, here is my day in Vegas after attending Photoshop World & Expo…

Photoshop World & Expo

Stanley Cup!!

Today I had the chance to photograph the infamous Stanley Cup.  I photographed the cup with each class of students in the East Allegheny primary and elementary schools.  IT WAS NUTS!!! Although, I had a ton of fun.  Its jobs like this that make a photographer love what they do, its just a pay off for all of the extra hard work everyday.

Pittsburgh AMI woke up in Pittsburgh for the first time in five days this morning to a beautiful “welcome home” from the ‘burgh itself!  After traveling and staying in Las Vegas for little less than a week this was a refreshing view.  I am putting together a little video blog from the last day of the Vegas trip and will post it next!

Today Coletta and I took our friend Heath to Ikea, it was his first time.  We knew that he would love it.  If you know Heath, you know that he tends to enjoy buying random things for fun.  Today he bought LED accent strip lights that change colors for his room.  He was playing with them in the car before we even got home!  After it was dark and he was showing us how cool they looked at night, I immediately suggested we do some light painting.  Long exposures with a very small aperture and a low ISO gives you this effect, its pretty simple.  I can’t believe how much fun we had playing with these lights.  I think the best part is the fact that we can have fun with so little, just like kids and cardboard boxes.
Here is my favorite image from our impromptu painting with light shoot.

Heath and his LEDs

Coletta needed to take a treat to work for a fellow co-workers last day.  All of the regular “party” things were already being made by others, the taco salad, the buffalo chicken dip, the fruit salad, even the drinks.  We wondered aimlessly  up and down the aisles of the grocery store searching for some inspiration for something good to make when I remembered seeing a set on Flickr:  “How to bake cheeseburger cupcakes” this was it!  We gathered up the stuff (including a cupcake pan, being newlyweds we still are missing miscellaneous stuff lol) and headed home to bake.  As you can see by the photo, it was a success, I hope they go over well at the party!
